Pacific Oleo sweeps 6 awards at CICM Responsible Care Awards 2005.

Responsible Care is the global chemical industry’s environmental, health and safety (EHS) initiative to drive continuous improvement in performance. It achieves this objective by meeting and going beyond legislative and regulatory compliance, and by adopting cooperative and voluntary initiatives with the government and other stakeholders.

The voluntary initiative was launched by the Chemical Industries Council of Malaysia (CICM) in 1994. Pacific Oleochemicals (formerly known as Akzo Nobel Oleochemicals) has committed as a signatory since then. The RC Awards was aimed to provide recognition to Responsible Care signatories that have made most progress in implementing the Six Codes of Management Practices, which focus on specific areas of chemical research, manufacturing, transportation, employee health and safety and environmental protection.

Since the Awards inception in 2002, Pacific Oleochemicals has participated and won gold and silver Awards for various Codes each year; For the RC Awards 2005, Pacific Oleo has again emerged the overall winner for the Oleochemicals category; by winning all the six (6) Codes of Management Practices:

1. The Distribution Code
2. Employees Health & Safety Code
3. Community Awareness and emergency Code
4. Process Safety Code
5. Pollution Prevention Code
6. Product Stewardship Code

The Six Codes of Management Practices are the backbone of our Total Integrated Management System, which include ISO 9001:2000 ( Quality), ISO 14001:2004 (Environmental), ISO 18001 ( Occupational Health and Safety) and HACCP (Food Safety). Pacific Oleochemicals has committed and practiced the initiatives in all the operations of its business activities.
